Each week I’m going to write a weekly post summarising the notable projects and singles that released during the week. I’m planning on doing this on the same day each week, probably on the Friday before the wave of Friday albums drop, so each post will cover the previous Friday-Thursday.
I’m doing this mainly so I can come back to them in the future and see when certain things dropped, but also hope to help others catch some fresh music that you may have missed. I’ll include some links to any reviews I’ve done on the projects, streaming services to listen to them, and anything else that may be relevant.
OG Maco – Maco Got The Flame – Spotify – Apple Music – Youtube – I’ve never really gotten into OG Maco which is why I didn’t peep this one this week, but he once had a 10/10 feature so I know he is capable of delivering enjoyable performances. That said, I’ll probably come back to this during a quiet week
Lil B – I’m Kanye – Youtube
Doja Cat – Harley – Soundcloud
The only other notable drops that I’ve left off this list are a bunch of leaks from Lil Wayne, which I left out because there ended up being about 12 total. But even without those, overall I think this was a sensational week both in terms of projects and singles.
Out of the projects I personally listened to, my favourite from this week was Time Served from Moneybagg Yo, closely followed by The Circus by Mick Jenkins. I think both of these albums were exceptional honestly, up in the 8-9/10 range. Aside from that I also thoroughly enjoyed the debut album from Quando Rondo titled QPac, had a lot of highs but also much more filler than the 2 above albums. With 3 quality projects dropping on the one day it was one of the best days in years for me personally.
Lots of exciting singles dropped this week too, with a whole lot of variety between them there was something for everyone. I’m not going to list all the tracks I enjoyed this week because there were many, but I’ll touch on just a couple that I found most exciting. I thought the new Lil Baby single ‘Sum 2 Prove’ was an amazing track. I loved the mix of hiphop and EDM/house music on the Grandma & Rico Nasty song, real unique. The song by prtyfoul. & Michael Christmas has this insane drop and dubstep production that works super well. Nipsey had another impressive posthumous verse on the Stylz & Wells track ‘Product Of The Ghetto’. I loved the combination of Ugly God and Aly Ryan on their track ‘You Ain’t Him’. I thought the Doja Cat Track Harley has an awesome vibe to it despite just being a random loosie. NEZ bought out the best in ScHoolboy Q, with him giving one of his most impressive features in a long time on the strange yet captivating track ‘Wild Youngsta’. And I thought both the EARTHGANG feature and accompanying music video on the new TOKiMonsta track were thoroughly enjoyable. I’ll stop it there but you get the point, lots of enjoyable and interesting songs this week.
Honestly the only single in the whole list which I wasn’t impressed with was the new Drake and Future collab. I also haven’t listened to the Mac Miller or Dreamville tracks as their respective albums drop next week so I wish to listen to them in the context of the album.
Next week should be another exciting week with albums from Mac Miller, Stunna 4 Vegas, & Dreamville (RoTD deluxe) dropping on Friday!
What was your favourite singles/albums of the week?
Was there anything I missed?
Thanks For Reading!
