Each week I’m going to write a post summarising the notable projects and singles that released during the week. I’m planning on doing this on the same day each week, probably on the Friday before the wave of Friday albums drop, so each post will cover the previous Friday-Thursday.
I’m doing this mainly so I can come back to them in the future and see when certain things dropped, but also hope to help others catch some fresh music that you may have missed. I’ll include some links to any reviews I’ve done on the projects, streaming services to listen to them, and anything else that may be relevant. Enjoy!
Although this week wasn’t a bad week, it was certainly the slowest week of the year so far. With only one notable album and a handful of decent tracks it felt super slow compared to the stacked three weeks we had to open the year. I thought the J Hus album was an enjoyable listen but wasn’t as good as a number of albums from the last couple of weeks. Luckily there were a few enjoyable singles released over the last few days, with my favourite songs of the week being ‘Value’ by A$AP Ferg, ‘Letter To Nipsey’ by Meek Mill & Roddy Ricch, & ‘Where Are They Now’ by ex Funk Volume member and co-founder SwizZz. I also loved the infectious bounce to Yo Gotti’s new single ‘H.O.E.’, I enjoyed a majority of the song ‘Speed Me Up’ from the Sonic movie soundtrack (primarily Wiz & Sueco), I thought the Tyla Yaweh ‘High Right Now’ remix with Wiz had an awesome vibe to it, and I quite liked the new releases from both Reason & Young Nudy. The main songs that I didn’t enjoy this week were the Lil Nas X ‘Rodeo Remix’ with Nas, and the Lil Yachty x Bryson Tiller collab ‘For Nothing’.
Next week should be a little more exciting with albums expected from Lil Wayne, Yo Gotti & Russ.
What were your favourite songs of the week?
Was there anything I missed?
Thanks For Reading!
