Hey hey!
Each week I’m going to write a weekly post summarising the notable projects and singles that released during the week. I’ll include projects by notable artists and projects that pique my interest due to high profile features or strong singles; and I’ll include singles by any artists on my radar as well as singles with quality features from notable artists and songs by lesser known rappers that I enjoyed throughout the week.
I’m planning on doing this on the same day each week, probably on the Friday before the wave of Friday albums drop, so each post will cover the previous Friday-Thursday. This post may come later due to other things taking priority, but will still only cover a one-week period.
I’m doing this mainly so I can come back to them in the future and see when certain things dropped, but also hope to help others catch some fresh music that you may have missed. I’ll include some links to any reviews I’ve done on the projects, streaming services to listen to them, and anything else that may be relevant. Enjoy!

My Thoughts
Despite this being a decent week I think it was easily the weakest week of April and one of the weakest weeks of 2020. There was an average amount of both album and single releases but not a whole lot of projects that piqued my interest or enjoyable single releases.
Admittedly I didn’t listen to any albums that dropped this week so can’t comment on quality, but there were a few drops this week. Undeniably the biggest drop was the new Drake tape which I’ll contains a bunch of new songs along with recent Loosies and leaks of his; I’ll be listening and reviewing this in the next week. Little Simz also dropped the 5 song ‘Drop 6’ EP which I’ll listen to at the end of the quarter along with other short EP’s from April-June. There are a number of other projects I’ll get around to eventually; Mozzy and Ace Hood both dropped full length solo albums with ‘Beyond Bulletproof’ & ‘Self Preservation’ respectively, and Young Thug linked up with Chris Brown for the collaborative project ‘Slime & B’. Other than that I think both the new Waka Flocka and Jay Worthy/Harry Fraud albums have potential, Waka based on the strength of some old projects, and Jay Worhty based on the strength of his recent output.
There weren’t a whole lot of singles from big name artists this week, and not a whole lot of good releases from lesser known artists either. My favourite releases from big name artists were the French Montana banger ‘Cold’ which has Tory Lanez as a guest, and the new remix of Doja Cat’s Tik Tok smash ‘Say So’ which has a fire feature verse from Nicki Minaj. There were also a couple of other decent remixes this week; with Gunna offering a smooth guest appearance on Camila Cabello’s DaBaby assisted ‘My Oh My’, and K. Breezy calling on Yella Beezy & Asian Doll among others for her ‘Pop That (remix)’. Tee Grizzley had the best solo song of the release with ‘I Spy’, and I think my favourite feature of the week was Young Thug on T-Shyne’s ‘Moncler’. I enjoyed hearing Snoop Dogg rap in Spanish on ‘Que Maldicion’ with BandaMS, loved the Tory Lanez feature on JoJo’s ‘Comeback’, and though G-Eazy’s ‘Angel Cry’ was easily the stronger of this two singles this week. Some of my favourite songs this week were from lesser known artists; ‘A24’ is this eerie banger by 2 artists I’ve never heard of in Cuco & Goon des Garcons, another totally new rapper to me is LIL LO who impressed me on ‘Nothin’ which also has a killer Wale verse, Kota The Friend enlisted a couple better know rappers in Bas and Joey Badass for a fun show of lyrical talent on ‘B.Q.E’, and finally two artists I’ve stumbled upon in the last year, Kaash Paige & 24kGoldn cane together for the incredibly smooth ‘Unbelievable’.
So overall it was a real mediocre week in comparison to the rest this year. There were only a few decent tracks and no amazing ones, plus a decent amount of disappointment (YG, KILLY, Migos, Lil TJay). I think next week will be stronger as the months seem to be starting off strong this year!
What were your favourite songs of the last week?
Which of these albums are worth a listen?
Is there anything notable I seem to have missed?
Thanks For Reading!
